AICKIN, Richard Paul. Richard died on the 8th of May 2022 aged 62 years, reluctantly and way too soon.

Beloved husband of Jan and father of Harry. Dear friend of Tracey and much beloved father of Geoff, Claire and Lauren. Proud Grandad of Landon, Emmett and Posie Jeanne. Loved brother of Jill, Michael and Trudi. Loved uncle of Danielle, Tee, Cleo and Xanthe.

Richard will be mourned by his friends and colleagues at Starship especially in the Emergency Department. He was a much loved and celebrated mentor, teacher, collaborator and friend to many more across Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine in New Zealand and beyond.

Richard was so sad to be leaving us, regretting the family milestones, adventures and companionship he will miss. His hope was to be at home for his last days but unfortunately that was not to be. He will return home at 2pm on Wednesday 18th May - friends are welcome to visit and share memories, stories and Pinot.

With heartfelt thanks to all of those involved in Richard's care, but in particular to the staff at Mercy Hospice, for whose kindness and dedication we are overwhelmingly grateful.

Richard's funeral will be held at St Matthew-in-the-city, 132 Hobson Street, Auckland City at 2pm on Thursday 19th of May.
